Adam Doueihi, Wests Tigers, Melbourne Storm, loan deal, NRL 360, why did Tigers not allow it

Adam Doehy pushed for a loan move to the Hurricanes last month but the Wests Tigers turned him down.

Melbourne have approached the Tigers about a number of players they want to loan out amid the injury crisis, but Duhey remains their number one target.

Duehi was Gar-Venture’s best player last season before a long-term knee injury and he only returned in round 15.

The Storm eventually signed Tigers winger David Nofoaluma on loan but Duhi wanted to keep the club out of the finals.

“I first found out about it in the media and after not looking into it, I raised it with my manager and the higher ups at the club,” Duhi told NRL 360.

“Then my manager Sam called me and discussed the options and what they (Melbourne) have to offer me to go down there for the rest of the season.

“I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to go down on a personal level.

“The Hurricanes have been one of the strongest organizations in the league for a while, and they’ve gone down there and got players like Ryan Papenhuizen, Harry Grant and Cameron Munster and players like that and a coach like Craig Bellamy.

“Spend two months there, learn under them and play finals football and hopefully come back to our club as a better player. That was an option I looked at but the club wasn’t supportive.

“I was coming back from a long injury and if I had been injured there it wouldn’t have looked good and I’m satisfied with the club’s decision.”
