Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovich’s stunning Wimbledon final ended in a disappointing quarterback at the end of the quarterfinals, with the Australian saying goodbye in the second straight year.
But the first question she asked in the post-match press conference had nothing to do with her impressive campaign, nor was there anything heartbreaking about her defeat by Rebecca 6-4 2-6 3-6 in the first set.
Instead, she was immediately questioned about the charges against her former partner, Nick Kirgius, and his ex-girlfriend.

Reporting: AJLA heartbreaking loss after serious frustration
Kirgius broke the silence to answer a key question about the former GF attack.
Kygrius is accused of assaulting a former girl and making a statement to Wimbledon.
“You have been in contact with Nick Kirgius for some time,” asked Tomljanovich, who began his press conference. They are aware of the allegations made by the police in Australia. What was the experience of meeting him? ”
The Australian tried to cross the line: “I don’t know exactly what to say about the relationship and the case. I don’t know what it is. ”
The journalist, however, should not have given up and said: “Domestic violence against his former colleague has been referred to a Canberra court.”
Tomljanovich replies: “It has been a while since our relationship ended. It is clear that I have always kept my relationship secret. I want to keep it that way.
“I definitely oppose domestic violence. I hope it will be resolved. But yes, I mean, I’ve never had that experience with him before. ”
Tomljanovich and Kirgius met for two years before splitting in 2017.
