All Blacks coach Ian Foster will go online on Sunday morning (1:05am AEST) when his side play the Springboks in South Africa.

Foster survived by the skin of his teeth following a 2-1 series defeat by Ireland in July, but two assistant coaches were sacked as a result. Moreover, New Zealand Rugby chief executive Mark Robinson refused to guarantee Foster would take the rugby powerhouse to next year’s World Cup, instead insisting he was the right man to lead the All Blacks to South Africa.

It comes after the All Blacks lost their first home series in 27 years, as well as four of their last five attempts.

The All Blacks are under pressure, including captain Sam Kay, who is under intense pressure to keep his place in the side.

Bowden Barrett and Jordie Barrett were selected at crucial numbers 10 and 15. The Crusaders pair played Richie Mounga on the bench and Will Jordan on the wing instead of his preferred fullback position.

With the focus on the All Blacks, the Springboks flew under the radar. But Jacques Nienaber has named a strong squad with World Cup winners awash in the squad.

Surprisingly, Malcolm Marks started ahead of Bongi Mbonambi, while Damian Willemse wore the number 15 shirt alongside Willy Le Roux.
