Turkey will host Lithuania in Izmir on Tuesday night with a golden opportunity to set another National League marker.
From the hosts, Turkey may still be frustrated by this year’s League C clash, but the Crescent-Stars are currently enjoying the purple color of the Real Nations League. It has been described as one of the most popular, and Stephen Kuntz’s men have been shown another major display for the last time as they run to the top of the table. Luxembourg eventually won 2-0 away, winning each of their opening three matches. In fact, with a 12-0 aggregate victory in each of their opening three National League games, Turkey will no doubt be encouraged by its final match against the opposition on Tuesday. Turkey should be sniffing another golden opportunity, claiming that the 6-0 Romp stars were the stars of last week’s trip to Lithuania.
As for the visitors, Lithuania may have traveled to the Faroe Islands last weekend smelling of their own destiny, but it was another night when Valladas Ivanuskas’ side lost. The Yellows are in a prolonged nightmare, with the leader throwing 2-1 in a landslide. Rinktin has won just one of its last eight matches in all competitions, winning each of its opening three Nation League matches 10-1 on aggregate. They know that Lithuania will have another big task ahead of them when they return to San Marino in March. With that 6-0 win over Turkey last week, it’s hard to see anything other than a regular home win in the middle of the week.
