LIVE: Australia’s Adam Scott is chasing the lead in the third round of the current PGA Tour’s BMW Championship.
Scott made bogey on the second hole but soon found red-hot form, racking up birdies on the third, fifth and ninth holes that ignited his free-season charge in the FedExCup Playoffs. He is currently three under for the round through 12 holes, picking up a birdie on a hole there.

Reigning Masters champion and current world number one Scotty Scheffler, one of four players who started to share the third round, was one shot behind Scott in a fierce battle for the top spot.
Scheffler is four under for the round, tied for second with Scott at 11-under 12 overall.
But Patrick Cantline leads the way, 12 overall after shooting six under for the round through 15 holes.
“I’m playing well,” Scott said before the third round. “I’m in great shape going into the weekend. I don’t even know the last time I led a race.”
Reaching the Tour Championship guarantees a player a minimum of $500,000 (A728k) and a shot at an $18 million (A26.2m) winning cheque.
A total of $75 million (A109.1m) was awarded in bonuses after the FedEx Cup final.
Incredibly, if Scott wins the BMW Championship, he is projected to jump 42 places to third in the FedEx Cup standings, four times more than in the regular season.
