David Fifita form, Kieran Foran signs with Titans, David Fifita salary, Titans struggles, Justin Holbrook under pressure, Gold Coast coach sacked, news, Round 18 highlights

The form of Titans million dollar man David Fifita has come under the microscope again – and one man could be the key to unlocking the 22-year-old’s potential.

Justin Holbrook’s Gold Coast side have struggled in 2022 and sit at the bottom of the ladder, while Fifita has his own issues with injuries hampering his playing time.

At its best, the Storm is a real game-changer, and Fox League experts believe the Titans’ halves are partly to blame for the downfall, not feeding the ball in tight spots.

While fans may not see the best of Fifita in 2022, one man could be the difference in 2023 – Kieran Foran.

“David can do things in the tournament that a lot of other players can’t, when he does, he beats two, three, four players,” Cooper Cronk said.

“I think it will all come together for them next year, Holbrook will be under a lot of pressure at the start of next season.

“They need to find David Fifita’s role and they need to find halves that fit Kieran Foran.

“They put Kieran with David Fifita.”

“He[Foran]plays it straight, tells David what his role is and tells him where to run,” Benji Marshall said.

“So if they find a way to get the best out of him, I think that’s up to the club as well.”

Fox League’s Corey Parker also suggested that Fita may be looking for an exit.

Fifita is one of the most criticized players for his expensive price, and the talented forward may want to move somewhere rather than use his natural talent.

“Dave’s still very young, and he’s part of that young brigade,” Parker said, “and he faces a lot of criticism because of the money he has.”
