Carlton and Adelaide small forward Eddie Betts recently played for Palmerston and lined up at Casalis Arena in July.

“Having Gary and family here as part of the football community is a huge coup for the club and very exciting for the NTFL competition,” the club said in a statement on its Facebook page.

Ablett’s appearance was organized alongside Magpie junior and former premiership teammate at Geelong, Matthew Stokes.

Ablett called time on his AFL career at the end of 2020, having won two premierships, eight All-Australians and a total of six best and fairest awards from 357 games for Geelong and the Gold Coast.
