Gold Coast Titans, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Canterbury Bulldogs, Matt Burton, response, bring it on, Round 19

Queensland executive and Titans boss Tino Fa’asuamaleaui has said “bring on” the Bulldogs players who have pledged to promote him when the clubs meet next week.

The Dogs are fired up in Fa’asuamaleaui to treat Canterbury and New South Wales star Matt Burton in Game III on Wednesday.

The Maroons lock was fined $3000 but stayed on the field in the main decider following two fouls against Burton.

In the second half, Fa’asuamaleaui had the Blues’ center in the lead after being punched by Dane Gagai when the first arm swung to Burton’s cheek.

Fa’asuamaleaui was told in his post-match press conference on Saturday night that Bulldogs players targeted him in their Round 19 clash.

Asked if the threat worried him going into the game, the rookie smiled.

“Nah, it’s just another football game, go out there, get cracking, go hard and, well, bring it on next week,” Fa’asuamaleaui said.

Despite the Titans losing a tight clash at home to the Broncos, Fa’asuamaleaui believes they can snap a seven-game losing streak against the Dogs.

“We’ve got to get the details right but make sure the effort we showed tonight and that’s up to standard,” he said.

“We have to build on that and go back to training and make up for our mistakes and we’ll be fine next week.”

The Titans need to win by 28 points to leapfrog the Bulldogs to 14th in the standings.
