Steve Smith is the latest Australian to be in the cloud of injury.

The defeat left the left-footed team in a 1-1 draw with Australia in the second leg of their match against Sri Lanka.

Smith could miss the third game against Josh England or Cameron Green and could join the Australian XI with injuries to Michael Starch, Marcus Stoinis, Ken Richardson, Ashton Agar, Mitch Marsh and Sen Abbott.

Marsh, however, would be a good choice to replace Smith if he qualifies for the Australian XI.

Kerry said of Marsh: “I know he is very close Cricket.com .au.

“I expect him to play the same role as the T20. He was fantastic there, his goal is what we are trying to achieve, his turnaround was fantastic and he was amazing on fast balls.

Meanwhile, left-hander Matthew Cuneman is expected to take his place in the Australian XI after picking up two wickets in the first leg of the ODI.
