Klopp says new Liverpool signing Nunez ´has all the pieces we look for´

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says new signing Darwin Nunez has all the options the Reds want in a player but it is still a work in progress.

The Reds have confirmed the signing of 22-year-old Uruguay international striker Benfica on a “long-term contract”.

Nunez joined for 64 64m (€ 75m) with an additional £ 21.4m (€ 25m) potential, which includes work permits and international licenses.

The striker scored 48 goals in 85 appearances for Benfica last season to become the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 26 goals. He is happy to have scored in both Champions League games against Benfica against Liverpool.

Klopp is pleased to have it, but insists that it is not a finished product yet, despite the fact that the features will increase their options in the future.

“Darwin is a fantastic player,” Reggen Klopp told Liverpool’s official website. “That is why it is so exciting to be honest. His age, his desire, his hunger to be greater than he is now. Confidence in our project and what we want to do as a club.

“He is just as pleased with us as we are with others, and this contributes to a good relationship, while you appreciate each other’s strengths. The point is, of course. He thinks we are right for Him and we believe He is right for us.

“He has everything we need. He can set the time, he can bring energy, he can threaten space from the center and the wide. He is aggressive and flexible in movement. He plays without fear, he is powerful.

It is important for all of us to know that we are having a ‘work in progress’ with Darwin. He realizes that he is himself, for sure. I love how much attention and humility he has.

“We have had fantastic attacking options before and he will be part of that now. So there is no pressure on him.

Klopp has praised the club’s interest in signing Nunez, who has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Klopp added: “This is very good news, and it is really good news. “Thank you so much for everything you do at the club. We have shown equal determination and determination.

Nunez says Liverpool’s interest and style of play are key factors behind his decision to join the club.

“I’ve played a lot of games for Liverpool in the Champions League and this is my game.”

“There are some great players here and I think it fits my style of play here. As I said, I have seen a lot. It is a very big club and I hope to give everything I can to help the team.

Despite having a high transfer rate, Nunez has said he does not feel pressured to offer instant prizes to the Reds. The Uruguayan left Benfica for a € 24m club record in 2020 and mentioned the same situation.

“I do not feel pressured,” he said. “I went to Benfica and they asked me the same question.

“I don’t think a player should feel that way, a player should feel the pressure. I don’t feel pressured by anyone or anything, I think the pressure on the player to make things go well comes from within. Therefore, there is no additional pressure.

I think I must be doing well to find myself at Liverpool. I always want to be humble and keep my feet on the ground, to make sure I am doing well, that I am on the right path, and that I do not deviate from that path.
