Melbourne Storm, Craig Bellamy spray, Brandon Smith, loss, half-time talk, Chris Lewis

Storm star Brandon Smith coach Craig Bellamy said last Thursday night they had the biggest blow in years.

In a post-match press conference, Bellamy made an unusual public attack on the players after losing to the Eagles 36-30.

But Smith said with Matt Jones on Sunday night that the spraying started an hour earlier at 18-6 in the dressing room.

“I still don’t know what happened (in the game) but I have no doubt what the half-hour talk is, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever done at this club,” Smith said.

“(Captain) Jesse (Bromwich) said the same thing.

“We didn’t defend well, we didn’t go as a team.

When Smith Bellamy explodes in the shadows, Smith asks how to handle it.

“Now I lower my head. This was especially bad, he closed the door and just a minute later the arteries came out of his head and he said, ‘You guys can solve it later.’

I tried to take responsibility and I put everyone in and said ‘OK what are we going to do and then we went out and tried in the first minute, so my speech didn’t work.
