Nikita Tszyu vs Ben Horn weigh ins, Justin Hodges vs Jordan Simi, news, how to watch, full card, preview

He will have to wait until Wednesday night’s ‘Battle of the Brothers’ to challenge undefeated star Nikita Tsiu, but Ben Horn is definitely raring to go – something that was made abundantly clear when he put on his boxing trunks. Tuesday’s weigh-in.

Horn arrived at the scale in his fight-night clothes, but came in at 69.94kg, missing the optimal weight limit, so he stripped to his underwear.

Fortunately for Horn, as Wednesday’s headline act is not a title fight, Tzu’s camp was willing to avoid any weight drama and allowed their opponent to remain clothed rather than strip to make the weight limit.

Tszyu had no such problem coming in at 69.06kg; Before the pair met each other on Wednesday night – Horne is now wearing trousers over his boxer shorts.

It’s almost two years after brother Tim Tsiu stopped Ben’s brother Jeff Horne in Townsville – although Nikita has not promised another category this time around.

Meanwhile, former NRL star Justin Hodges will take on social media personality Jordan Simi tomorrow, 8kg lighter than his rival, who cut a terrifying figure at the weigh-in on Tuesday.

The pair traded vicious verbal barbs at Monday’s press conference, but were happy to shake hands at the weigh-in – although come Wednesday, there’s no doubt the fists will be well and truly flying.

Simi weighed in at 109.22kg for his heavyweight competition before declaring: “I’m going for the competition. We are both overweight. Justin said yesterday someone was beating me so I’m focused on that.

Hodges was very light at 101.90 kg. He said: “I don’t worry about what’s on the line… it’s a new challenge, that’s why I got into the sport – to challenge myself.”

Watching his opponent weigh in, Hodges said he wasn’t intimidated: “It’s a different guy.” That’s all. I played some rugby league with some big guys too. The old saying is big, they fall hard. I am not afraid of anything.”

Elsewhere, Ireland’s Darragh Foley, who presents ‘Battle of the Decade’ in December 2020, didn’t mince words ahead of his fight with Hunter Ione.

Foley said: “It’s one thing to summon the devil, quite another to see him come.” A hunter is going to turn hunted to Wednesday night.”
