Heartbroken Johnathan Thurston has spoken publicly for the first time since Paul Green’s shocking death.
Green, 49, was found dead at his home in Brisbane. It is confirmed that he took his own life.

News of the death of the former North Queensland Cowboys premiership-winning coach has been met with great sadness from the rugby league community.
On Monday night, Thurston spoke about the pain and anger he feels after losing his former coach and friend.
The two men Together they led the Cowboys to their first premiership in 2015.
Thurston was on air when the shocking news of Green’s death broke, flying to Sydney for his commentary job with Channel 9.
Thurston was given the weekend off and immediately returned to Townsville.
“An emotional rollercoaster. It’s hard… I’m sad, I’m angry,” Thurston told 9News through tears.
I think about Amanda (Green’s wife) and the kids. It just breaks my heart.
“He was still like a rock to the other guy.
“If you need to talk, call me,” he said. You have a lot to live for. Good health, family, children.
“So it doesn’t make any sense.”
While dealing with the pain of losing a great mate, Thurston is doing his best to remember the good times he shared with Green.
“He puts a few under his belt and starts singing ‘Ice Ice Baby,'” Thurston says with a laugh.
“(That) was his journey.
“He loved bringing people together.”
Green’s brother Rick has spoken of the heartbreak the family is dealing with following the NRL great’s passing.
“There are times when it’s a bit overwhelmed by the sense of loss, as expected,” he said.
“Their mother and father are very old – father over 90, mother over 80 – and they are feeling the loss of their son. As siblings feel that loss, we are very aware of the loss of Amanda[Green’s wife]and we will make sure she gets that support.
“Everybody has their time but we’ve had a big weekend of talking about different things, we think we’ve got a way to really help.”
The public memorial news was released on Sunday, which should be well attended throughout the weekend with emotional scenes.
Speaking about the commemoration, Rick said the event will be held at the Cougar Oval and invited the public to come and celebrate the great life of the league.
