After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Australia will face France, Denmark and Tunisia in Group D.

The Socceroos – or rather their representatives, the UAE and Peru – came out of pot four at a long ceremony in Doha, Qatar on Saturday morning.

One of the three countries will qualify for the Inter-Confederation Draft in June.

Surprisingly, Australia or Peru could be in the group with two teams in Russia 2018 – France and Denmark.

Australia, Peru, France and Denmark are in Group Four, the last two qualifying matches. Tunisia, at the bottom of Pot 3, has now replaced at least one of the previous two countries.

Australia’s first match will be against defending champions France.

When Australia left, they had two options: Category D or Belgium F, Morocco and Croatia.

Soccerros coach Graham Arnold says the team will have a chance to win in the race.

“(Team D) brings back memories of 2018 and playing France, winning 2018, and being in the same team as Denmark – the only difference is Tunisia,” Arnold said.

“It’s definitely one step at a time for us, and everything is in the game first and foremost, but it’s a fun team.”

“They (Soccer players) are going back to their clubs, and they are watching the draw today. They want revenge on some of the boys in 2018 and I’m sure everyone will be happy.

There are three games-limited venues in Qatar in June.

The first Asian qualifier is between South Soccer, the fifth-placed South American team, against Soccer and the United Arab Emirates.

New Zealand’s second-placed Oceania will face North America’s fourth-placed Costa Rica.

And finally, the war in Ukraine delayed the game for the last place in Europe. Scotland and Ukraine will face each other in June, with the winner a week before they face Wales. The winner of that clash will be eligible.
