Half of them now miss out on British Open champion Colin Moricawa, as well as Justin Thomas, Victor Hoveland, Will Zalatoris, Hidiki Matsuyama and Billy Horschel.

Tringale broke the course record with a score of less than -61 and failed to match his heroics on Friday, but he lost two rounds to Gary Woodland and Doug Gim.

US Open champion Matt Fetzpatrick has won the last two holes but is in the top three after the impressive 66 rounds.

Fetzpatrick said: “I was not in the best place today in terms of yesterday’s weather, but it was a good start.

“I’m just as happy with the goal as I was on the ninth.” World number three John Rahm and three-time winner Jordan Spit will appear on the weekend but are relegated after 72 rounds.

“The 6-iron tap and the wind blows to the right. Everything on the pin goes down and you’re lucky enough to do it. We can’t see, but the crowd has fallen.”

Smith recorded the Genesis Electridef GV70, while his Cadi Sam Maton won the Genesis GV60.
