Socceroos to meet Jordan next month in World Cup warm-up

The Socceroos are set to play Jordan in a World Cup qualifier against the United Arab Emirates next month.

Australia beat Qatar in the AFC qualifiers on June 7 to advance to next week’s Inter-continental qualifier against Peru.

The match against Jordan will take place on June 1 and is being played in Qatar.

“We are looking forward to playing with Jordan,” said Soccerros coach Graham Arnold.

“While we are on the field, we have established good relations with the Jordan Football Association on the field over the past few years, so it is exciting to have this game in preparation for the World Cup.

Arnold is in Europe to oversee the formation of the Australian team, which will be named later this month.

“We have a huge squad of players around the world before the final selection,” he said.

“Over the last few weeks I have seen a lot of Australian players at their club.

I am delighted to see that so many of our players are coming to camp with good minutes preparing for the final World Cup qualifiers.

If the Soccer players qualify for the World Cup from November to December, they will join Group D with Tunisia, Denmark and defending champions France.
