Tom Burgess sent off, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Cronulla Sharks, tackle, high shot, golden point, Ronaldo Mulitalo

South Sydney enforcer Tom Burgess was sent off for the high kick that set up Cronulla half-back Nicho Hynes’ match-winning field goal on Saturday night.

A lazy arm from Burgess tipped Sharks center Ronaldo Mulitalo over the halfway line for a golden point with three minutes remaining.

Referee Gerard Sutton immediately awarded a penalty and sent Burgess straight off after settling the dispute between the players.

“Tackling Burgess at the top, he’s a big problem, he’s halfway there,” Dan Ginane said on Fox League.

“Any penalty for Cronulla, what’s the result?

“Ugh, little power from Burgess. The players from Cronulla saw replays and that made them bubble again.

“He’s gone. He’s sent. Tom Burgess makes it 12 straight from the field and makes it 12 with three and a half minutes to go.”
