Bulldogs main sponsor Craig Laundy is confident of re-signing star player Matt Burton following the appointment of Cameron Ciraldo as the club’s head coach.
The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the 2023 season and will be free to negotiate with his rivals from November 1.
Burton is said to have rejected his player option for the 2024 season and was awaiting the club’s next coaching appointment to call on his future.

But now Laundy believes Burton’s contract extension is the next “piece of the puzzle.”
“Obviously Matt has a strong history with Cam,” Laundy said on SEN 1170.
“Gus and Cam are going to start talking to Matt, and I’m sure they can work something out.
“Matt is a superstar, we knew he was, that’s why we wanted to sign him.
“My dad and I went out and sat with his mum in the dugout and explained our role in keeping players off the field.
