Mr Burgess is accused of sexually touching a woman at her Sydney home in March.

The St. George prophesy is accused of “sexually touching the bottom of the woman without her consent” between 10.20am and 10.45am.

Mr Burgess pleaded not guilty and his barrister told the court there was “huge controversy” over what happened earlier.

Mr Burgess faces a one-day trial on February 22 next year.

“The St George Illawarra Dragons have been made aware of an issue involving one of their players by the NRL Integrity Unit,” the Dragons said in a statement on March 21.

Despite the NRL having a “no foul standing policy”, Burgess confirmed he would not stand.

A conviction for sexual assault carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
